  • Life in Port Phillip after the virus

This pandemic has exposed so many fault lines in work, in housing, in how we care for each other, especially our children and elders, in retailing, the arts and more.

Please join people from across Port Phillip to look at:

    • What are we learning from this crisis?
    • What would a better and fairer community look like on the other side of the pandemic?
    • What does this mean for Port Phillip and our local community?

Some great thinkers and activists will be joining us, including Tim CostelloJack Latimore and Emma Dawson, editor of the forthcoming book, What Happens Next: Reconstructing Australia After COVID-19, they will outline how we build a new social contract focused on fairness and an economy that works for all coming out of this crisis.

This special event is hosted by Progressive Port Phillip.

  • Volunteer Skill Up Session 3 | Stepping Up

This session will allow us to contextualise the previous sessions and examine how we can apply our new skills to the work of PECAN and Progressive Port Phillip. We’ll spend time looking at our role within the community and our work in relation to local, state and federal government and especially look at how we are working to make change within the municipality.

In this session new volunteers will be asked to think about how they think they can have the biggest impact within the movement, based on their acquired skills, knowledge, ideas and individual passions. These training sessions are designed to empower new volunteers to take the lead in the local response to the global climate emergency.
